Regardless of our unique gifts and strengths, it seems we are always focused on what we don’t have. Perhaps we are gifted in singing, yet public speaking brings us to our knees. If we are short, we want to be tall. If we are tall, we want to be short. There are so many ways we send negative messages to ourselves without even understanding the true impact we are having on our quality of life.
By focusing on what we don’t have, we feel less than- not worthy. We see the glass as half empty instead of as have full. Nothing is just ever quite right.
What if you could enjoy each day and recognize the blessings that show up when you least expect it. Think about the unconditional love of your pet. Your pet loves you without measuring if you are worthy. In their eyes, you are the best.
God created you as an individual with gifts only you possess. There is no one else quite like you. Search yourself and really take a good look at the beautiful person inside and out. It isn’t until we appreciate ourselves for who we are that we can truly be free from the mental war that goes on between the ears. The truth is that our need to be perfect or be someone we are not, only robs us from living the life we deserve.
Now I am not saying that we don’t need to improve. I am a continual work in progress and believe that we are growing and maturing everyday. Think about the things you can improve and take action. The first step is to get real with ourselves and find a way to improve our self talk so living can begin.
