What does it say when our President during a time of war, recession, and uncertainty wins the Nobel Peace Prize? For years, the international community has seen our nation in a negative light. This was not attributed to the war on terror per say, but because an impasse of communication and inability to work together in the diplomatic arena.
By offering a bridge, while not letting rogue governments destroy our ideals, we can make other nations feel like we are not self-serving but truly see ourselves as a global partner in resolving conflicts that affect all nations.
International etiquette and diplomacy does not mean that we are weak; however by operating in a strong yet open and respectful demeanor, we can be a light for democracy. It’s time to bring back dignity, civility and respect. We can agree to disagree.
Yes, this is a difficult time for all Americans. Now is the time we must check our attitude. What can you do in your workplace, community and family to bring a feeling of inclusion and understanding? It is when we acknowledge others that we foster a sense of belonging and that leads to a cohesive environment.
Do what YOU can to bring a little peace in YOUR world today!

Presidents Obama winning the Nobel Peace prize has brought on a variety of discussions by the media on whether he deserves the prize or not. To me, it is more about the prize rather than who gets it, who won the peace prize last year? The year before? Or the year before that? What are these people today? Can any of us name the Nobel peace prize winner ten years ago? In my mind it is not whether Obama deserves the prize or not, the fact that the prize given shows that the world is still in pursuit of peace and that must be recognized, for once we stop giving the prize then where are we? Sadly it is only once a year, when the prize is given that our attention is focused on the subject and then we choose to criticize rather than support the award, the effort that was made rightly or wrongly, by the committee in a world torn by war, poverty and abuses to direct us to the opportunity for all of us to contribute to peace in our own small ways. I congratulate the Nobel Peace prize committee not on their choice but on their continued effort and that this year’s winner will have the opportunity to bring our world one step closer to a universal peace. Thank you.
