How Can We Change Our Lives for a Better Tomorrow and Beyond?

Instead of setting a New Year’s Resolutions, let’s discuss ways we can change our lives for the better tomorrow and beyond by applying the Rule of Five. The Rule of Five says that if we focus on our strengths then can run our race and reach your true potential.

(Proverbs 17:24 GN) “An intelligent person aims at wise action, but a fool starts off in many directions.”

In order for the Rule of Five to be successful it must include the following actions:

• Doing the right activities.
• Everyday.
• Checking success daily.

So what are your five? Perhaps you are not sure. Here are some recommended ways to narrow down your five areas of focus for 2010. If your Rule of Five does not contain the elements in these areas you need to rethink your list. Remember we are talking about a successful life plan, not a New Year’s Resolution.

Relationships

We are meant to be in relationships. If you are holding on to unforgiveness or resentment, commit finding a resolution. Remember that forgiveness doesn’t mean you are condoning an action. It is a decision and if left unresolved will hold you back. Search your heart to uncover an unresolved areas in your relationships.

Values

What do you value? What is most important in your life? At your 80^th birthday party, what do you want your friends and colleague to say about you? You may want to begin to do some of those things now.

Your Calling

Your calling is something that you do that will produce and eternal benefit for others.  To find your calling ask yourself the following questions:

• What is required of me?
• What gives me the greatest return?
• What gives me the greatest reward?

Growth

Where the people have no vision they will perish. What are you doing to be sure that you are growing? Are you stretching yourself? Are you growing in all areas professionally, personally and spiritually?

Faith

It is with faith that we hope on things unseen. It is through our faith that we know a brighter day is in store. Jesus said, “I have come so you might have life, and have it more abundantly.”

Let this year be the year that you live abundantly. Focus on the Rule of Five with consistency and see your life begin to change. We are called to love others as we do ourselves. Let’s strive to love ourselves as we do others.
