Indy Grand Prix of Alabama… Barbers Motorsports Park played host to the inaugural event

Make Your Best Impression Blog, News & Testimonials   ·   April 12, 2010

What a beautiful day for a race? The weather was amazing, the crowds were pleasant and the overall experience was a great event for the drivers, sponsors and attendees. When we think big, big things can happen.

The positive impact  regarding the national exposure for the event cannot be measured. Often times events such as these can help brand an area.  What do you think of when you think of Augusta? - The Masters.  This postive exposure can peak the interest of companies and individuals to consider an area that they were once unaware of, or even worse, one they had a poor image of based on a misperception.

When individuals and organizations are looking to relocate, events like these add to the appeal of a destination.  It was Mr. Barber’s passion that first fueled this amazing venue.

Economic development is the key to reviving  a community. It is important that not forget the impact that tourism and conventions bring to a destination. Not only are you bringing outside dollars in to filter through your local tax base, you are also having the opportunity to showcase your city and create advocates from those that have visited.

As a hospitality consultant and a meeting planner,  I can share with confidence that you often do not see the hours of preparation (sometimes years). When an event goes well, you can bet that many hands played a part into making that experience a delightful one.

It is also unfortunately when one or two issues are what the attendees remember.  There are always procedures to tweak following a first time event.  In the end, the inaugural Indy Grand Prix Alabama event was a overwhelming postive impact on the greater Birmingnam area.  Every person that played a role should be proud of their part in moving our city forward.

My hat goes off to all city and county leaders working together to impact our entire region. This is a proud day for our state. Great job!
