America’s Impression Engineer and Business Success Coach Introducing the Right or Wrong Series

Welcome to the Right or Wrong Learning Log

Each week a winner will be selected to receive a FREE gift from Make Your Best Impression. Let us hear from you. It is when we participate and share that learning begins.

Annoucing our new interactive program.  Is there really a gray area when it comes to what is right or wrong? Well, that depends. Weak, huh?

No, really. We have opinions and views on various topics strongly based on our prior life experience. The important thing is to begin a dialog and ask the question “Why do I feel this way?”

I am not stating that we are not entitled to our opinions, we just need to ask ourselves “What is the motivation for the opinion?”.

It is when we ask why and see things from another’s point of view that we can find a  way to agree to disagree. It also allows us to look in the  mirror and make sure that what we think is based on fact and not on assumptions.

So here is your question for the week:

If a clerk missed charging you for an item would you bring it to their attention?

    Dallas,

What a great question for us to use to keep ourselves on our personal right path. “What is my motivation for this opinion?”

I imagine that I could use it to ferret out any rationalizations for doing things that might not be quite right, but are the way I want it to be. Or to use it to call myself out on any preconceived notions.

Would I bring the item to the clerk’s attention? Yes, because otherwise it’s stealing and I’d feel guilty. Would I bring it up even if it was expensive? Even more so. Otherwise I’d feel even worse!
