As someone who does her best to explain to others that our personal and professional image does matter, it is now also affecting the outcome of divorce. In Sunday’s Birmingham News, there was an article that was focused on the use of Facebook to find evidence to support their cases.
Not only is it not smart to post when you are out of town (for security reasons), you certainly want to use common sense when posted items that can be used against you. Even if you are not posting photos of your mistress, you also want to avoid anything that can damage your reputation.
Remember that it takes years to build a reputation and only seconds to destroy it. Think twice before you post something on -line.
Also be extra careful, not to hide behind e-mail when it comes to conversations that need a personal connection. You can make a huge mistake by assuming something via e-mail and sending an abrupt emotional response. Often times, e-mail can be miscommunicated, so never- never-never respond emotionally in return. Pick up the phone and connect with the person so you do not damage a relationship.
